OhioPodcast.com Episode 19:
Fort Recovery State Museum Part 1
St. Clair’s Campaign
This is the first of two episodes from the Fort Recovery State Museum in Mercer County. If you are an Ohio history buff like me, you are really going to enjoy these two episodes.
We go on location with Nancy Knapke, director of the Fort Recovery State Museum. Nancy shares her wealth of historical knowledge of early Ohio and US history and gives us an eye-opening tour of events that led to the opening of the Ohio frontier. In this Part One, she takes us through the events of General Arthur St. Clair’s 1791 ill-fated campaign and the massacre at the Battle on the Wabash.
In Part 2, (Episode 20), Nancy tells us about how the new United States government responded by sending the Legion of General Anthony Wayne back to the Wabash and into the battle of Fort Recovery. She then takes us on a tour of the museum.
The events that took place in this small area in the 1790’s profoundly affected the history of not only Ohio and the United States but the entire world!
